Light Vehicle Inspection Course

Course Overview

Our Light Vehicle Inspection course is the ideal starting point for those aiming to become certified MOT Testers. Designed for technicians involved in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing light vehicles, this course caters to both experienced professionals and those new to the field. For seasoned technicians, we offer a streamlined 1-day assessment option. Alternatively, for those beginning their automotive career or with limited experience, we provide a comprehensive 3-day course.

Throughout the program, you’ll cover key modules, including emissions testing, electrical system inspection, brakes, steering and suspension evaluation, as well as complete vehicle assessments and appraisal techniques. The training takes place in our state-of-the-art facility, equipped with the latest diagnostic and testing tools.

Upon completing the course, you’ll be equipped with the essential skills and knowledge needed to conduct thorough vehicle inspections. With your ATA or VTAA Light Vehicle Inspection Technician Accreditation in hand, you’ll be ready to take the next step towards earning your MOT Tester Licence. To continue your training, consider our Class 4 & 7 course.

Requirements

Ideally, technicians should be in full-time employment with a minimum of 3 years of experience.  This is to ensure you are familiar with the techniques for vehicle servicing, inspection & system diagnosis. Depending on your experience, you will need to either complete the 1-day or 3 -day course. A pre-assessment will be completed to determine which course is suitable for you. MOT Annual Training & Assessment

Course Overview
We’re bringing back the best of both worlds! This year, in addition to completing your mandatory annual assessment, we are excited to offer a 1-day refresher course that also includes your Annual Assessment. For those of you who’ve been testing for a while, you might remember the older refresher courses before they were replaced by the current training and assessment requirements. We believe that since MOT testing is a hands-on role, your training should reflect that.

During the 1-day refresher course, our expert instructors will guide you through this year’s key topics and lead you in a practical session focused on the MOT routine in our purpose-built, fully equipped training facility. This approach ensures that you’re well-prepared to take the assessment, leaving you feeling confident and ready. At the end of the day, you’ll have completed both your annual assessment and a practical review of the MOT process.

Important Reminder:
All testers must complete their training and assessment by 31st March 2024 to remain qualified. The pass mark for the assessment is 80%, and you will have 1 hour to complete it. If you also conduct bike MOTs (Class 1 & 2), an additional assessment will be required. Please reach out to us, and we can arrange this for you.
